Polypropylene (PP) is a light, resistant , rigid and crystalline thermoplastic polymer that is used in the development of countless applications. Thanks to its versatility, PP has become one of the most used materials in applications ranging from bottle development to engineering materials.

How is PP produced?

Polypropylene is a type of polyolefin slightly harder than Polyethylene (PS). It is considered a low-density, high-heat-resistant plastic. Its chemical formula is (C3H6)n and it is made from the polymerization of propene monomer.

It belongs to the thermoplastic division of synthetic plastics , meaning that it softens rather than burns at temperatures close to the melting point.
