An unexpected decline in raw material costs caused North American Polypropylene (PP) resin prices to fall an average of 10 cents per pound in April.
According to a report from Plastics News, this drop coincided with a drop in prices for the raw material Polymer Grade Propylene (PGP).
The first price drop of the year
The PP price drop in April reversed a trend that had seen prices rise for three consecutive months and six times in the previous seven months.
The three previous increases totaled 10 cents, so April's drop returns prices to where they were at the beginning of 2024. The only month of the previous seven that did not see higher Polypropylene prices was December 2023, when costs were remained stable.
